Five Top Colour Palettes for Styling Your Autumn Wedding

April 29, 2020 · Inspiration, UK Weddings, Wedding Trends

If you’re planning an autumn wedding but stuck for ideas, we’ve pulled together five of our favourite autumn colour schemes as wedding inspiration below. With so many beautiful colours to choose from at this time of year, autumn weddings are spoilt for choice when it comes to styling which is why we thought we’d share a few of our favourite colour combinations with you for inspiration.

Autumn is a great time to play around with colour, and is perfect for couples looking for something bright, bold or a little more creative. If you’re after something a little softer, you can easily opt for a more neutral palette of warm nudes and off-whites, weaving in hints of darker colours throughout.

Look 1 – Fields of Gold

Autumn Colour Palette | Mirabella Weddings, UK wedding planner | Luxury weddings across the UK

Inspired by the harvested fields and trees turning that lovely warm, golden colour, this colour palette is about celebrating the best of autumn and harvest-time. Pair deep terracotta tones with opulent ochre, earthy browns and greens – this palette is all about bringing the outside in, and creating a cosy yet calming look. This look works well against crisp whites to keep it fresh and modern and creams for a softer look.

Look 2 – Regal Opulence

Jewel Toned Colour Palette | Mirabella Weddings, UK wedding planner | Luxury weddings across the UK

Autumn weddings are great for going bold, and what better way to celebrate at this rich and luxurious time of year than by adding deep, jewelled tones. Combine deep, inky indigo with emerald greens, magenta, mauve and golden mustard tones for an indulgent yet modern look. This colour scheme works particularly well when paired with equally luxurious textures to really enhance the look – think crushed velvet or silk and satin.

Look 3 – Highland Heather

Purple Colour Palette for Autumn Wedding | Mirabella Weddings, UK wedding planner | Luxury weddings across the UK

If reds and oranges are less your thing, warm purples are another great choice at this time of year, with plenty of autumn flowers in bloom to match your palette. This palette takes inspiration from the misty, heather-covered hills of the Scottish Highlands. In terms of flowers, deep-hued scabious are a great option to stop this look being too ‘pretty’ and pink, and work well when paired with lighter and brighter tones to really lift the colour scheme. Use plenty of greenery in sage-like tones to create a sophisticated yet calming palette.

Look 4 – Beachcomber

Teal Colour Palette for an Autumn Wedding | Mirabella Weddings, UK wedding planner | Luxury weddings across the UK

We LOVE teal; whilst already proving really popular in interiors, this palette is only just really starting to be used properly in weddings, meaning you can easily create a fresh and different look. Dark indigos and emeralds pair well with brighter teal to really lift the look and create something modern yet fun. This colour palette is bold and bright but oh-so-fun, and works especially well when paired with modern metallics and fun prints to add a splash of something different. Bringing a slice of coastal cool, this palette can work well at any time of the year.

Look 5 – Golden Glow

Terracotta & Mustard Autumn Colour Palette | Mirabella Weddings, UK wedding planner | Luxury weddings across the UK

If you don’t want to go all-out with colour, utilise soft nude, sand and neutral tones to create a grown-up and calming palette, adding in hints of mustard, terracotta and deep burgundy tones to create a natural, earthy feel. Natural linens paired with deep berry ribbons or terracotta-hued stationery are a great way to add gentle pops of colour and warmth. This look is just at home in an understated, blank canvas venues in the UK as it is in the white-washed walls of a Puglian masseria if a destination wedding is more your style. If you’re a fan of the modern boho wedding style, this colour palette also works well with rattan lampshades, exposed wooden trestle tables and gold metallics to bring a contemporary yet laidback feel to your autumn wedding.
